Bottle Cap & Hyper Training Guide

Hyper Training pushes a Pokémon's IVs up to 15. Two cap types exist — Gold (all 3 stats) and Silver (one stat) — with different eligibility and value.

Gold Bottle Cap vs Silver Bottle Cap

Both items start "Hyper Training", but they differ in how many stats they can boost.

Gold Bottle Cap

Gold Bottle Cap

All 3 stats

  • Can raise Attack, Defense, and HP — all up to 15
  • Debuted June 2025 via GO Pass Deluxe "Echoes of the Past"
  • The only way to push a 95–96% Pokémon to a true 100%
Silver Bottle Cap

Silver Bottle Cap

One stat of your choice

  • Raises just one stat (Attack, Defense, or HP) to 15
  • Debuted November 2025 via GO Pass Deluxe "Into the Wild"
  • Useful for fine-tuning when only one stat is lacking

Eligibility

  • Buddy level "Good Buddy" or higher — requires ~70 km of walking as your buddy
  • Cannot be used on Shadow Pokémon
  • Cannot be used on Pokémon that are already 15/15/15
  • Hyper Trained Pokémon cannot be transferred to Pokémon HOME
  • CP rises permanently — Great/Ultra League Pokémon risk exceeding the 1500/2500 cap. Always simulate first

How It Works

1
Use a Bottle Cap

Applying a Bottle Cap to a Pokémon starts Hyper Training.

2
Pick stats and targets

Choose which stats (Attack / Defense / HP) to boost. Each missing IV point becomes one task (e.g. Attack 12 → 15 = 3 tasks).

3
Set as buddy + complete tasks

You must keep the Pokémon as your active buddy to progress. Only one task per stat can be active at a time.

4
Each task = +1 IV

Every completed task permanently raises the targeted IV by 1. Once raised, the increase cannot be reversed.

5
Finish within 365 days

You have one year to complete every task after using the Bottle Cap. Going over may invalidate progress — plan ahead.

Task Categories per Stat

Each stat has its own task category, with difficulty escalating from Level 1 to 15. Below are typical examples (buddy slot is required).

* Colors follow the common RPG convention: Attack = red, Defense = blue, HP = green.

Attack

Combat

  • Battle in a gym with buddy in party
  • Win raids with buddy in party (up to 40)
  • Defeat Team GO Rocket grunts
  • Defeat Rocket Leaders (up to 5)

Defense

Care / Catching

  • Take Snapshots with buddy
  • Play with buddy
  • Power up Pokémon of the same type
  • Catch wild Pokémon with buddy (up to 1500)

HP

Exploration / Collection

  • Spin PokéStops with buddy
  • Earn candy with buddy
  • Complete field research
  • Hatch eggs with buddy
  • Walk with buddy (up to 75 km)

* Exact task counts may shift between updates. Always trust the in-game task value you're given.
