STEP 1 · Install Pokémon HOME (mobile) + sign in with Nintendo Account

Install Pokémon HOME on iOS/Android and sign in with a Nintendo Account. You can create a free Nintendo Account inside the app if you don't have one (email verification required). A Switch console or game is NOT required.

STEP 2 · Link Pokémon GO with Pokémon HOME

In Pokémon GO, open the Trainer menu → Settings → "Connected Devices and Services" → "Pokémon HOME" → sign in with the same Nintendo Account from STEP 1. ⚠️ Even if you log into Pokémon GO with Trainer Club/Google/Facebook, the HOME link uses a separate Nintendo Account — that's normal and your game data stays intact.

STEP 3 · Send 1 Pokémon via the GO Transporter

In the same menu (Settings → Pokémon HOME), tap "Send Pokémon" to open the GO Transporter. Pick a Pokémon and send it. Energy is full on first use and recharges over time (or instantly with PokéCoins).

STEP 4 · Mystery Box appears in your Bag

Once the transfer succeeds, the Mystery Box is automatically added to your Pokémon GO Bag — no extra "claim" step is needed. New trainers should see an "A Mystery Box has been added" notification.

STEP 5 · Receive the Pokémon in HOME (mobile)

Open the Pokémon HOME app → Settings → "Pokémon GO Link" → "Receive" to move the transferred Pokémon into your HOME boxes. ⚠️ Free HOME storage is capped at 30 — release Pokémon before it fills up. Since the Mystery Box was already added in STEP 4, postponing this step doesn't affect box usage.

STEP 6 · Use the Mystery Box → Meltan appears for 60 min

Tap the Mystery Box in your Bag → "Use" to make Meltan appear around you for 60 minutes. After use there's a 72-hour (3-day) cooldown plus another transfer required, so make sure your prep (Silver Pinaps, Steel Mega, Buddy = Meltan) is done before activation.
